Mr. Cravaack was a member of the 112th U.S. Congress for Minnesota's 8th Congressional District, serving on the Homeland Security Committee wherein he served on the Counter-terrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee, Transportation Security Subcommittee, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and was Vice Chair of the Aviation, Coast Guard and Maritime subcommittee, the Water Resources and Environment subcommittees, the Science, Space and Technology Committee, and the Technology and Innovation subcommittee.
He is a retired U.S. Navy Captain and qualified Naval Aviator flying the CH-53W Super Sea Stallion helicopter. His other Navy assignments included T-34 Instructor Pilot, Assistant Watch Officer-Navy Command Center-Pentagon, Supreme Allied Command Atlantic-Strategy/Policy Division, and Commanding Officer.
Mr. Cravaack has 17 years of experience as a commercial airline pilot and was selected into the Federal Flight Deck Officer program at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Chip is a graduate of the United States Navy Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of West Florida.
