A Texas native, Rene Garcia served for over 29 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the U.S. Department of Justice. He most recently was the Chief Executive Officer (Warden) of the Federal Correctional Institution at Englewood, Colorado. During a long and distinguished career beginning in 1985, Rene served in key leadership positions at correctional institutes throughout the country including Allenwood (PA) FCI, Florence (AZ) FCI, Oakdale (LA) FCI and La Tuna FCI in El Paso, Texas. He also held senior posts at Bureau of Prisons Regional Headquarters Offices in Dallas and Philadelphia.
Rene implemented and administered health care systems, food programs, educational programs, counseling and self development programs, and emergency enforcement operations for large populations of prisoners and oversaw million dollar budgets. He is recognized for his deep leadership experience and the vast array of responsibilities and requirements of prisoner processing, transportation, detention, and correctional processes and operations. He is a certified federal corrections facility inspector, having led multiple assessments of government and privately owned detention and correctional facilities around the nation.
